About NIHR

The NIHR CRN West Midlands provides the infrastructure that allows high-quality research to take place in the region, so that people can benefit from new and better care and treatments.

It helps to increase opportunities for people to take part in research, to ensure that studies are carried out efficiently, and to provide researchers with the practical support they need to carry out their research.

The Network has a supportive and palliative care team, who are passionate about supporting the palliative care community in hospices, in the community, or in hospitals, to have the opportunity to take part in research. We aim to support people working in this area to come up with research ideas, support the delivery of research studies, and help develop infrastructure as needed, so each organisation can fulfil its desire to become research active. We want to:

  • help provide patients wherever they are with access to research if they want to take part
  • encourage our local palliative care teams to take forward their research ideas
  • share those findings that affect evidence-based care and best practice

If you have an idea already and want to find out more about the next steps visit the Study Support page for more information or If you would like to learn more about our team please visit our palliative care page to find out more.
