About WMCARES

WM CARES is a trainee led research collaborative, made up of Palliative Medicine Specialist Registrars and from across the region, alongside local consultants and with support from the CRN and NIHR.

We aim to conduct and publish research in the palliative care setting within the West Midlands, with the goal of improving patient care and services, both regionally and nationally, while increasing trainee participation in research activities. We recognise the importance of evidence-based practice, and we are passionate about promoting this within our relatively ‘young’, but fast-developing specialty of Palliative Medicine, both through our own collaborative and also as part of the UK Palliative Care Research Collaborative (UKPRC).

Alongside the CRN, we deliver an annual event to showcase innovative and exciting projects within the field of Palliative and Supportive Care. This well attended day provides an opportunity to share best practice, enable research readiness and showcase involvement in research and other projects undertaken by our supportive and palliative care communities in the West Midlands. As well as being an excellent opportunity to network and gain insight into the latest developments it is a day laden with educational value.

Our committee meet several times throughout the year to discuss new ideas, ongoing projects and both local and national opportunities. If you have an idea that you would like to share with our group, please do get in touch!
